Fresh off the back of a European tour, the enigmatic Naarm (Melbourne) based Glass Beams will radiate their unique brand of serpentine psychedelia at Magnetic Fields.

Self-recorded in a home studio, ‘Mirage’ is the debut release from the artist, showcasing an inclination for cosmic instrumentation, eastern scales and kraut-pervaded polyrhythms, issuing four compositions that lend from a profusion of influences, informed by Glass Beams' South Asian heritage.

The artist explains, “My father was born and raised in India, and in searching for new energy and inspiration to write music, I dug around for music from my father’s hometown and surrounding areas. I found a wealth of 70’s era Indian classical, disco and pop music that formed the inspirational building blocks for this record. As soon as I had that vision of what I wanted to write and why I wanted to write it, the songs flowed out."

Upon release, Glass Beams 'Mirage’ oozed onto the turntables of Gilles Peterson, Trevor Jackson, NTS & Rhythm Section DJ’s and featured on BBC6’s ‘Fantastic Beats’ segment. This support culminated in the standout track ‘Taurus’ being included on the Grammy-nominated Jayda G’s lauded ‘DJ Kicks’ release, with NME proclaiming Glass Beams as ‘An Essential Emerging Artist’.

Glass Beams’ self-recorded studio material awakens into an immersive live show, hypnotic renditions of the songs performed by the masked trio.
