Striking a musical balance between the known and the outlier with a concoction of art-pop, downtempo and ambient, Sijya makes her live debut at Magnetic Fields.

A composer, producer and designer from New Delhi, India, Sijya lays down textural abstractions of her inner monologue onto musical and visual canvases alike. Drawing a strong connection between the two with her music, the multi-faceted artist brings together untamed synth layers and raw rhythms with emotion-led vocal lines. Sijya’s stylistic concoction invites the listener in gently before covertly bringing them along on a gradual rebellion against preconceived notions of forms and styles.

She has earned notable acclaim with her single ‘Have To Make My Bed’, which has been championed on platforms including BBC 6Music, Feel My Bicep, Bandcamp’s New & Notable, Crack Magazine, Mixmag, Rinse.fm, NTS and Worldwide.fm, by the likes of Tom Ravenscroft, Machine Woman, Tom VR, CEE and more.

Her upcoming debut EP ‘Young Hate’ releases on British music royalty Matthew Herbert’s Accidental Records, an institution known for launching artists with the most independent-minded approach. Over six varied musical offerings and their respective videos, the EP is slated to showcase Sijya’s vision as a music and visual artist at its most synchronous and far-ranging.
